pretty and pure

S.H. Figuarts, Futari wa Pretty Cure Cure black and White
Picked up both together from Amiami for 2,540 yen each a few months back.

Nagisa "Cure Black" Misumi and Honoka "Cure White" Yukishiro

Here's an addition I found kind of interesting, which was the cards shown here that can be cut out.
They were used on occasion in the the show for interacting with the anime's mascot characters, Mepple and Mipple)

Not exactly a lot that comes with the figures,  maybe I've been spoiled by figma figures coming with like nine extra hands, but I was a bit disappointed they each just had 3 extra hands, with black having a combo of  black and white's.
I guess you don't really need any more then what's provided, I just didn't really like how white came with kind of mismatched hands, black came with two fists, two open hands, and one pointing, where as white had the two firsts, one open and one flat, with the pointer.

Not a half bad stand, just like the figma stands, it's made of transparent material and has screws at the joints for tightening when they get lose.
The claw arms at the end could do a better  a better job of holding the figures,  they don't exactly have a ferm grip.

Now for some comparison shots to the characters themselfs!
(yeah not the right faces I know, but oh well..)

cure black!

cure white!
They are pretty cure!

The paint and sculpting wasn't half bad on this figures, but I do have to complain about their functionality with their shoulders, they just don't seem very well designed.
the shoulder pads have their own joints free from the arms, but moving the arms to much makes them fall off, more so with white then with black.
cure black's pads have more range to them, because of a extra joint in the shoulder for the pads, which cure white doesn't, it really limits the arm motion range, even having the arms strait out can pop those should pads out of place.

Can't forget about the hand peace that allows them to hold hands and preform their finisher attack.
I actually found that peace didn't fir in cure White's wrist very well at all, to small it seems, making it a bit harder then it should be to have them in poses like above

This part really annoyed the heck out of me.
It might be a bit hard to see, but the faces have large indents behind them combined with not much there to grab onto, make it an unbelievable pain in the butt to change the faces.
It's funny that they make the faces this hard to remove, when the hair parts stay on fine with no need for this, but that  the shoulder pads that shouldn't come off, fall off as easily as they do.

They might not be exactly well made, but it's still nice to have them around I think, as a fan of the show.

and if you're into mahou shoujo anime, be sure to check out pretty cure!
there's also Suite precure, witch is only a few episodes in, and is currently airing this season.

  1. Poseability doesn't seem too bad on those two.

  2. I think they were worth it if you're a fan of the show. I'd probably start comparing it to figmas too since I'm accustomed to their standards.

That heart base really makes it look better.
